St. Nikola
AES is one of the largest global power companies in the field of conventional and alternative energy sources. Up to now the company has spread its business on the territory of 27 countries on 5 continents. AES provides more than 28,000 jobs and has installed capacity of over 43,000 MW, producing electricity for more than 100 million people all over the world.
AES is the largest investor in Bulgaria with a total amount of investments of more than 1.5 billion euro.
In Bulgaria AES works on two large-scale projects – construction of a new thermoelectric power station with installed capacity of 670 MW – “AES Galabovo”, amounting to 1.3 billion euro of investment, and Saint Nikola Wind Farm with a total installed capacity of 156 MW on the territory of Kavarna municipality, and investment amounting to 270 million euro.
AES is among the world leaders in energy production from renewable sources. The company has installed wind power capacity of 1,173 MW in the USA. Another 212.5 MW are under construction in Europe:
- North Rhins, Scotland – 22 MW
- Saint Patrick, France – 34.5 MW
- Saint Nikola, Bulgaria – 156 MW
In August 2006 AES and Geo Power established the AES Geo Energy company with the purpose to develop, finance and operate the wind farm for a period of 20 years.
